Self-Pay Patients

Paying for your own treatment could be a choice you want to make…

  • If you want to choose a consultant to care for you personally
  • If you do not want to wait for a diagnosis or treatment
  • If you want to choose an appointment time convenient for you
  • For procedures currently not available on the NHS.

Step-by-step process to treatment

1. Speak to your GP/Optometrist
For most hospital services you will need to be referred by your GP or Optometrist before you can be seen at any UK hospital. When your GP or Optometrist recommends that you need to see a specialist consultant, ask them to refer you to Midland Eye.

2. Contact us
Contact us on 0121 711 2020 to discuss your needs, our consultants and prices.

3. Book a consultation
Once you have a referral from your GP, you can then book an initial consultation directly with us at a time to suit you – this would cost between £100 and £230 depending on the type of consultation.

If you have a specific consultant in mind we can put you in contact with their secretary for their individual charges. If any tests are carried out at the initial consultation they will be charged in addition to the consultation fee.

4. Arrange treatment
If once you’ve had your initial outpatient appointment, your consultant recommends that you need some further tests or surgical treatment we will let you know exactly how much your initial treatment will cost before going ahead and then arrange a time convenient for you.

5. Pay for treatment
Wherever possible we offer all-inclusive package prices to include treatment and a post-operative appointment. Costs not included are costs associated with unrelated medical conditions, additional treatment and further tests.
